Rain, Mud & Dirty Feet – Malawi

It’s a rain sodden day, and I am filming a scene for Vet Adventures for Sky/Discovery on the outskirts of Lilongwe in Malawi and the crew is surrounded by filthy, inquisitive children and all of them smelling of pee.

A security man moves them back to no avail, as they slowly move forward again and again into the our shooting space.

The joy and fun these kids exude is infectious and you just have to go along with it.

The banter begins as they call us names of their favourite actors from TV shows. “Chucky, Chucky, Chucky” they shout out to the Producer who funnily enough on second glance does actually look like Chuck Norris.

We marvel at their joy and good nature considering their poverty and the very little they have.
